Discover Vila Real

Vila Real is located in the northern part of Portugal, in the province of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. It is delimitated above by the Alvão and Marão mountain system and below by Serra of Montemuro. It encompasses an area of approximately 400  km², which is traversed by the Corgo and Cabril rivers. The city has a population of 52 000 habitants, proud of their roots, which can be easily appreciated in its sights and monuments.

Vila Real has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. May is an agreeable month in the city, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 20°C. 

  

How to arrive?

By plain:

International flights: 

The nearest International airport is located at Oporto. You can also arrive from Lisbon airport.

Domestic flights:

To Vila Real airport (domestic flights from Bragança, Cascais and Portimão).

By express Bus:

By car: 

The main way to access Vila Real by road is to take A24 (from Viseu), A4 (from Porto and Bragança), A7 (from Braga).  Along the roads are signs giving the number of kilometers to the city.

To move around the city of Vila Real you can take a bus of the public urban transport (ticket is 1.10 €).
